Adolescence is such a time of growth and change. These young people are experiencing themselves and their world differently than they have before. Homeopathy addresses all levels of our beings, and does not have side effects, making it an ideal intervention for the complexities of this age group. Neurofeedback helps gently train the brain to increase emotional regulation, appropriate decision making, focus, etc.
Homeopathic case taking for a teen involves talking with them and with the parent(s). This may be done separately or together depending on what works best for everyone. During our interview, the adolescent determines what we will discuss based on what they would like to have different in their life, and we go from there. This gives them a chance to voice their concerns and teach me about what is important to them. Then I talk with the parent/guardian(s) about why they are concerned for their child and to receive any information from other sources (school or doctor for example) that may be helpful.
Some concerns that adolescents may seek homeopathic treatment for include: acne, allergies/sensitivities, anxiety (about college, friends, homework/test taking, performance, sports, or anythign else), body image difficulties, digestive complaints, headaches, menstruation symptoms, sports injuries, and much more.
Neurofeedback for your adolescent asks them to watch a movie and use the pauses in the movie to practice getting out of our emotionally based brain (where we react without thought) and into our higher cognitive functioning (where we are able to choose the response that is best for us). Teens may use neurofeedback to increase decision making skills, focus, memory, self awareness, social skills, sports performance, and other skills or to decrease anxiety, distractibility, symptoms from concussion, migraines, and many other discomforts.
While we are working together, I will be offering teachings to the teen and their parent/guardian(s) about how to use the homeopathic remedies so they can gain more and more independence with this. For both homeopathy and neurofeedback, the teen will be offered ways to pay attention to what their system is looking for, and how to respond, so that they can adjust before feeling so physically, emotionally or mentally uncomfortable.
